Last Sunday Funday some of my girlfriends got together to make terrariums. It's nice to do it with friends since you'll have more than enough supplies and it's also fun to see how everyone's turns out. Here's a step by step tutorial on how to make your own terrarium. Enjoy!

TIPS:

+ Place your terrarium in a spot where it will get sunlight but not direct sunlight. Glass terrariums will literally cook the plants if they are!
+ Try to keep the succulents from touching the edges of your glass container.
+ Water your succulents every other week. Since you can't drain as easily in a container, it's better to under water than over water.
+ The larger the opening of your terrarium container, the easier it will be to assemble your terrarium.

Supplies needed / Glass jar, pebbles, activated carbon, potting soil, succulents, miniature animals (optional).

Start with dumping pebbles on the bottom / This will act as your plant draining system.

Next, add activated carbon / It's great for minimizing odor & bacteria. Find it at your local pet store in the aquarium section.

Add potting soil!


Now for the fun & messy part / Add succulents! We separated one succulent into several pieces for variety within each terrarium.

Grab your animals out of their old habitats.

And place them in their new home!

Now you just need to remember to keep it alive! / I added additional pebbles on the top for a different look (it's optional).
